You’ll read the fascinating true story of Doaa, A Syrian refugee who risks everything to find a safe future.   Participation is free, but registration is required.

Virtual Book Club for Youth

Your middle and high school-aged kids are invited to participate in a Book Club to read and discuss Of Beetles and Angels: A Boy’s Remarkable Journey From a Refugee Camp to Harvard by Mawi Asgedom. Mawi was an Ethiopian refugee when he resettled in Wheaton, Il when he was seven years old.  Participation is free, but registration by a parent is required.

Virtual Cross-Cultural and Refugee Issues Training

Monday, August 10 - 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm

This training prepares volunteers to engage with the refugee community. It offers in-depth learning and activities to broaden a volunteer's understanding of who refugees are and how they get to the United States, as well as what help they receive when they arrive. Learn about the culture(s) of many refugees who are arriving and how to navigate cross-cultural communication and friendship.

Lace up your sneakers and get ready to Run/Walk forRefugee Kids! The weekend of September 11 – 13, run or walk a 5K (3.1 miles) whenever and wherever you want – road or trail, your neighborhood or a fun destination, even your treadmill at home! Proceeds support the educational, developmental and practical needs of refugee kids across Chicagoland.
